Exporail and the Canadian Railroad Historical Association (CRHA) win the Museum Volunteer Award of the Canadian Museums Association, in partnership with the Canadian Federation of Friends of Museums

SAINT-CONSTANT, July 22, 2020 – Exporail and the Canadian Railroad Historical Association team is delighted to announce that our volunteers have won the Canadian Museums Association Museum Volunteer Award, in partnership with the Canadian Federation of Friends of Museums. This award recognizes individuals or groups who generously volunteer their time and commitment to a museum or related heritage institution and have made a significant impact within the museum community.

Volunteers have formed an integral part of Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum since its inception in 1961. Today, more than 130 men and women volunteer their time to make a contribution to Exporail’s operations. Exporail’s volunteers are faithful allies: Many activities at the Museum are made possible thanks to the vast expertise of our volunteers, including telegraphy demonstrations, maintaining the model train network and operating the passenger train and streetcar. Volunteers also lend their skills to various committees that support the management of the Museum and its operations. Thanks to their commitment and dedication, Exporail is able to offer visitors a true railway experience.

Volunteers donated 26,504 hours of their time in 2019. They form an efficient and effective team with the employees: this is what makes Exporail a unique institution in Quebec. As the leading railway museum in Canada, it strives to be among the best in the world.
