Saint-Constant, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 – Exporail proposed, with the grant of $7000, within the framework of the Fonds de relance pour la culture et le tourisme of the MRC de Roussillon the project of nine video vignettes showing the vehicle interiors and providing additional information to enrich the quality of the visitor's experience. The series of nine vignettes delivers new content about the vehicles and highlights archival documents from the museum's collection.
Exporail has just completed the renewal of its permanent exhibition in the Grand Gallery of the Angus Pavilion: Rail, the Power of Connection. New vehicles have been integrated into the exhibition to make them accessible to the public. With COVID-19 and the health measures imposed, the interiors of the vehicles had to be closed to the public. From now on, the museum’s visitors will be able to access the capsules using their smart phones or digital tablets via QR codes installed on the vehicle information panels using the Vimeo platform. The capsules will also be progressively diffused on the Vimeo platform and accessible from the Exporail website.
In 2019, a generous donor made it possible to equip the entire museum site with Wi-Fi. These vignettes represent the first project to use this network.
"Résolument Roussillon is a recovery plan which supports all sectors of our economy, but we are particularly concerned to support our cultural organizations, which have been especially hard hit by the pandemic", said Christian Ouellette, the Prefect of the MRC de Roussillon and Mayor of Delson.
Johanne Beaulac, President of the Comité culture, patrimoine et Musée of the MRC and Mayor of Saint-Philippe, added: "We are happy that this program has contributed to the creation of innovative digital content to enhance the visitor experience. This project enriches the cultural fabric of our beautiful region."
The filming and production of the vignettes was carried out by the team at Productions du 3 juin, a video production and communications company specializing in working with organizations, museums and municipalities. Their expertise made it possible to create a result of excellent quality. For each of the capsules, the narration in French and English was done by a museum guide. Volunteers from the museum also contributed to the search for information or acted as extras during the filming. The entire project was under the supervision of the Client Services, Programming and Education Coordinator.
In order to give an overview of the nine videos, which are more than 2 minutes long, the project also produced a teaser that arouses the curiosity of the future visitor:
