Railway Christmas and the Exporail Christmas Train

Saint-Constant, November 13rd, 2019 - From November 22 to January 5, Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum will transport its visitors into the Magic of Christmas. Railway Christmas is a must-see event for the whole family! Many vehicles will be decorated and illuminated in the Grand Gallery, activities will be offered and Santa will meet the visitors!

The Exporail Christmas Train
During the ride, the children will have the chance to meet Santa Claus. Departures will take place at Hays Station at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on : Saturday, November 23, Sunday, November 24 and Saturday, November 30, 2019
Special rates for this activity. The cost for the ride is $2 per child and $3 per adult. The seats are limited and Book tickets are available online.
To book tickets online: click on the calendar icon to change the date, select the date November 23, 24 or 30, then in the "Exporail’s Christmas Train ride" section select the train departure time and enter the desired number of tickets for each category "Adult" or "Child".

Upon entering the Grand Gallery, visitors will immediately be immersed in a festive atmosphere with decorated vehicles: a freight car full of toys, illuminated locomotives, an elves' sled, a railroad car filled with reindeer... Christmas stockings will be hidden in vehicles all over the exhibit hall, so be alert! Under the Christmas tree, a model electric train will remind visitors of the traditional Christmas spirit and entice them to visit our model train room where two networks are in operation.

Along with their parents or grandparents, children can visit our Craft Workshop from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. where they can create their own Christmas tree decoration.
Creativity and tasty treats will be present again this year with a Christmas cookies' decoration activity from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. For $2, participants will be given a gingerbread cookie and the necessary material to make it look festive! A glass of milk will be ofered by Producteurs de lait de Montérégie Ouest!
Come and Meet Santa Children will be able to write Santa a letter and mail it in our mail-express car in time for Christmas! From November 23 to December 22, 2018, they can even meet Santa in person: Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and from 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Miniature Railway This 5-minute miniature train ride allows young and old to live a memorable experience. The train passes over three bridges and through one tunnel. Don't forget your mittens and tuques.

Visit of the Saskatchewan Car

The Saskatchewan car was built in 1883 for Sir William Cornelius Van Horne (1843-1915), who used it during the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway's transcontinental line, and later as a private car until 1915. For the event, this car will be decorated in the spirit of Victorian Christmas. Visitors, 12 and older, will be able to learn more during an English tour at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum will be serving tea to visitors (aged 13 and over) aboard a luxurious business car in the Grand Gallery of the Angus Pavilion, which once belonged to Charles Melville Hays (1856-1912) the President of the Grand Trunk Railway. Seating is limited and this special one and a half hour activity is available by reservation only. After a brief tour of the car brimming with anecdotes, visitors will be seated for tea at one of two tables (four or five persons) and have the privilege of indulging in delicious pastries similar to those once served during the Holiday Season aboard CN dining cars at the turn of the century. What could be better than going back in time while savouring the present moment?
Menu: Gingerbread cookies, sugar cookies, shortbread cookies, butter tarts, mincemeat tarts, fruit cake, plain scones and Orange Pekoe tea served with cream and lemon. Schedule: Tea is served on December 15, 22, 28 & 29, 2019 & January 4 & 5, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. Price: $33 p.p. + taxes (includes admission fee to Exporail). Reservations: 450 638-1522 ext. 231

Exporail hosts the Christmas Market of Ville de Saint-Constant!

On December 6, 7 and 8, artisans from the food and crafts sectors will be installed in the halls of Exporail to offer their products to the general public. Moreover, many gift ideas await you, just in time to complete your holiday shopping!
Market Schedule: Friday, December 6 - from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, December 7 - from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 8 - from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
